Age 27, the time of our lives in which we are starting to realize who we are and what we want to be in a few years, but it seems it’s also the age in which many young people have died, specially famous people. The 27 club is a list of popular musicians, artists, and actors who coincidentally died at age 27.

It all started with the death of Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison, who all died at age 27 between 1968 and 1971; at the time, the coincidence raised some comments, but it was until 1994, with the death of Kurt Cobain, suspiciously 27 years old that the conspiracy theory got stronger. According to some people, the growth of the “27 club” in the media and the interview of Cobain’s mother were responsible for many theories about the club. Some people say the events have led to a set of conspiracy theories and the absurd notion that Cobain timed his death only to join the club. 17 years later, Amy Winehouse died, once again, at 27, drawing more attention to the club. Strangely, 3 years before her death she expressed a fear of dying at that age. Researchers said that an individual doesn’t necessarily have to be a musician to be a member of the 27 club.
A study published in December 2011 (British Medical Journal) said there wasn’t an increase in the risk of musicians dying at age of 27, nothing to do with a medical issue. As for the spiritual meaning of the number, people found there have been 27 prophets, among these Jesus. So is it just coincidence or is there something else no one is talking about?
